Cheapest Cell Phone in the Philippines at 499 pesos

Smart Communications announced the launch of the cheapest cell phone in the Philippines dubbed as the “Panalo Phone.”

It will be priced at 499 pesos and will be available starting March 21. For 499 pesos you will get a cell phone (either ZTE or Cherry Mobile) with a Talk N’ Text SIM card that cannot be removed or replaced, comes preloaded with 40 text messages to other TnT subscribers and another 25 messages to users of other networks. The phone also has an FM radio receiver and a flashlight.

HIV-positive Marcelino Cavestany now allowed to enter the Philippines

Naturalized Australian citizen and theater actor-director Marcelino Cavestany has now been allowed entry to the Philippines.

The Bureau of Immigration revoked the order banning Cavestany from entering the country for being HIV-positive. He was blocked by immigration agents last March 6, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport citing a blacklist order signed by then Immigration Commissioner Marcelino Libanan saying that he “intends to spread his AIDS (HIV positive) disease.”
